Mike Gire, owner of MrJims Pizza franchise on Vandehei has just expanded to meet the demand of the growth on the East side of town.
Mike was born and raised in Cheyenne and has a background in restaurant management. When visiting a friend in Texas, Mike would always frequent the MrJims Pizza. After a few years, Mike met with Randy Wooley, Executive Director of MrJims Pizza.
Mike told the Dallas, Texas based company, “I think I can sell your pizzas in Cheyenne, Wyoming.”
In 2005, Mike opened his MrJims Pizza franchise on Vandehei, and in 2009, he opened his second location in Laramie. On a state-level, the venture was selected as the Wyoming SBA Small Business of the Year in 2012. Now the 3rd location to open is off College Avenue in Cheyenne. Each expansion comes with its challenges and with the new location there was trouble with some of the pending processes at the City of Cheyenne, leading to a projected later opening date than anticipated.
“Mike informed us of the assistance he needed from the Chamber and we jumped on working towards a solution. Our first phone call was to Mayor Marian Orr and then immediately everything got resolved.” Shared Vice President, Stephanie Meisner-Maggard, “We are businesses’ first stop and last stop because we most certainly are here to support them and create a friendly environment for business.”
Friday, May 18th was the first day for deliveries for the newest MrJims Pizza location. To celebrate the expansion, the Founder of MrJims Pizza, Jim Johnson, and the Executive Director, Randy Wooley, were in attendance yesterday. While visiting, the pair extended their gratitude to both the Chamber and the Mayor for their efforts.
