New Events Facility Holds Ground Breaking
Laramie County Fair breaks ground for Archer Events Facility.
On May 2, 2017 the residents of Laramie County voted on 6th Penny Specific Option Sales Tax, and thanks to the voters, Proposition 4, the construction of a Multi-Purpose Event Facility for the Archer Recreation Complex passed.
Today, April 24, 2018, with over 120 in attendance the Laramie County Fair Board, along with County Commissioners broke ground for the new events facility.
Jeff Ketcham, Fair Manager, stated, “When this project is complete we can say, ‘this is the house the taxpayers built’.”
The facility will be 110,000 square feet and will have room for up to 6,800 people. Attracting people from all over for trade shows, concerts, expos, rodeos and much more. The tentative Grand Opening is scheduled for June 2019.
Linda Heath, County Commissioner said, “To the Laramie County Fair Board, thank you for bringing this to the voters. The time was right and it passed. It will give the fair a permanent home. Additionally, it will add ore events that our neighbors from Nebraska and Colorado can come to. The possibilities are endless.”
The design team for this project includes: 5R Construction, Priefert Complex Design, LLC, Inberg/Miller, AVI, Tobin & Associates, Godwin Associates, Amec Foster Wheeler, Norris Design, and Ben Hornok. In addition, ANB Bank is the financial institution working with the project.
