New Restaurant Named The Metropolitan Downtown
OMI Group, led by Sam Galeotos, is excited to announce the name of its newest hospitality project, The Metropolitan Downtown.
The project at 1701 Carey Avenue, on the corner of 17th St. and Carey Avenue, comes on the heels of the launch of Provisions in December 2017 and Central Cafe in February 2018. The new hospitality venture encompasses three product offerings: the restaurant “The Metropolitan Downtown”, an event space “The Gallery at The Met”, and the already operational “Provisions”, a boutique liquor store. Director of Marketing and Business Development, Katy Rinne, shares that the restaurant and event space is planned to open later this spring.
“Our project encompasses four downtown addresses that had previously been vacant or otherwise underutilized space. We want to expand the hospitality and entertainment options in Cheyenne’s downtown core and create a venue that is attractive to people with varied interests,” says Galeotos who grew up in Cheyenne and has lived around the country.
The Metropolitan Downtown looks to advance the hospitality and entertainment landscape of Cheyenne, WY, and its downtown, through culinary and cultural offerings. Consistency of quality and service paired with menu items unique to Cheyenne’s current culinary options will set The Metropolitan Downtown apart. The food will be a central focus and draw for the restaurant, featuring a classic menu of New American cuisine with updated offerings. Chef Juan Coronado will be at the helm of the kitchen. Coronado, joined the group in 2017 to assist in the planning of the restaurant. He is a graduate of Johnson and Wales in Denver and has worked with some of Denver’s best chefs at Panzano and the TAG restaurant group.
The desire to add value to the downtown core of Cheyenne was a driving factor in selecting the location and creating the concept of The Metropolitan Downtown.
“Our entire team felt strongly about what we can contribute to Cheyenne,” Katy Rinne adds, “The Met is an opportunity to diversify the hospitality and entertainment offerings of Cheyenne, to create a community we want to live and thrive in. We are aiming to be a social hub of Cheyenne. We plan to offer new entertainment opportunities and create an atmosphere that invites guests to linger and enjoy.”
