Tuesday, August 21st was the primary elections which collected 22,154 ballots.
This is nearly 52% of the registered voters in the State of Wyoming. In the much anticipated gubernatorial race Mark Gordon won the Republican vote to continue on for the General Election against Democratic candidate, Mary Throne.

- BILL DAHLIN – .84%
- FOSTER FRIESS – 24.06%
- SAM E. GALEOTOS – 16.72%
- MARK GORDON – 41.17%
- HARRIET M. HAGEMAN – 10.99%
- TAYLOR HAYNES – 6.09%
- Write-in Votes – .14%
Democrat
- KENNETH R. CASNER – 5.98%
- MICHAEL ALLEN GREEN – 6.29%
- MARY A. THRONE – 79.28%
- REX WILDE – 6.13%
- Write-in Votes – 2.15%
Most of the results reflect incumbents being re-elected. The only political position resulting in an upset is Senate District 5 with Lynn Hutchings beating incumbent Fred Emerich.
