Rick Santorum Visits Cheyenne
Former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum, Pennsylvania (R), visited Cheyenne on Thursday, July 26, 2018. The former US Presidential candidate has added his support to Wyoming gubernatorial candidate, Foster Friess. Santorum will make stops along the Friess campaign trail in both Cheyenne and Casper.
Rick Santorum served in the U.S. Congress from 1991-1994 in the House of Representatives and from 1995-2006 in the U.S. Senate. He was a Republican presidential candidate in 2012 finishing second to Republican nominee, Mitt Romney. He also ran for the Republican nomination for president in 2016. Santorum currently serves as the political analyst for CNN.
Santorum is known for his sponsoring the 2005 Workplace Religious Freedom Act. The Workplace Religious Freedom Act of 2005 – Amends the Civil Rights Act of 1964 to modify the definition of “religion” for purposes of coverage under that Act by requiring employers to make an affirmative and bona fide effort to reasonably accommodate the religious practices of employees.
At today’s event held in Cheyenne, Wyoming, Santorum lauded Friess as his first call when faced with issues while serving in the US Senate.
Wyoming will hold primary elections on August 21, 2018.
