Rory Palm hired as APG Media of the Rockies regional president
Adams Publishing Group welcomed Rory Palm this week to the newly created position of regional president of APG Media of the Rockies.
Based in Cheyenne, Palm oversees Wyoming daily newspapers here and in Laramie, Rawlins and Rock Springs, as well as the Wyoming Business Report. He also oversees Pixel Ink Creative Group, the company’s digital arm, and Wyoming Tribune Eagle Commercial Printing, a full-service production, packaging and distribution facility.
Prior to joining Adams Publishing Group, Palm worked for Forum Communications Co. and the Rivertown Newspaper Group for more than 25 years in various management roles. He most recently served as publisher of South Dakota’s Mitchell Daily Republic from 2014-18.
Prior to his stint in South Dakota, Palm was publisher of the Park Rapids Enterprise in northern Minnesota from 2007-14. From 1992-2007, he was stationed in River Falls, Wisconsin, where he had roles as general manager and regional director of classified sales.
Palm began his newspaper career in 1986 in advertising sales at the Hardin Herald in Montana.
“We are excited to have Rory’s experience in Wyoming,” said Jeff Patterson, divisional president of APG Central. “He is a longtime newspaperman with a tradition of producing high-quality products, while serving both advertisers and readers.
“I think Rory is the right person at the right time for our Wyoming group.”
Besides Palm’s strong affinity with newspapers, he has an equal interest in community involvement. He has been a longtime Rotarian, Chamber of Commerce board member, committee member for many downtown revitalization projects, member of youth hockey boards, hockey coach, baseball coach, softball coach and Sunday school teacher.
Palm earned his Bachelor of Arts in psychology and economics from the University of Minnesota in 1983.
“My wife, Beth, and I are excited about the opportunity to relocate to Cheyenne,” Palm said. “We have been here for only a few days, and we’re impressed by all the town has to offer. I look forward to working with the talented staff at the Wyoming group of newspapers and becoming a partner in their continued success.”
Jeff Robertson, who is based in Laramie, will continue to serve as group publisher for APG Media of the Rockies.
Adams Publishing Group is a family-owned community newspaper company, launched in 2013 by Mark Adams with support from his family.
