Special Olympics Summer Games Begin
Special Olympics athletes from Area 3 compete in Cheyenne.
Athletes, coaches, volunteers, and fans joined together today for the start of qualifying competitions of the Area Summer Games. There were over 650 athletes competing in Athletics, Aquatics, Basketball and Powerlifting. State Summer Games will be in Laramie in May.
Volunteers play a large part of these area and state events. Volunteers include coaches, running partners, announcers, and those handing out awards. To learn more about volunteering visit the website.
In addition to the competition portion of the Olympics Law Enforcement personnel from across the state, will be joining forces to bring the “Flame of Hope” to communities. With a culmination at the 2018 Special Olympics Wyoming Summer Games on Thursday, May 17th in Laramie this is part of a worldwide movement.
