The Cheyenne Symphony Creates “Holiday Magic” for the Whole Family
Once again, the Cheyenne Symphony Orchestra rings in the season with what has become a “can’t miss” Cheyenne holiday tradition.”
Holiday Magic” will delight it’s audiences on December 15th, 2018 with yuletide favorites such as music from How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite, audience sing-along carols and other beloved holiday music.
Maestro Intriligator details the holiday line up: “This year our Holiday Magic concert brings back the Cheyenne Chamber Singers, the Cheyenne All-City Children’s Chorus, and the En Avant Dance Studio. The Chamber Singers will sing several beautiful selections, including works by two female composers and two regional premieres. They will also sing the “Star Carol” by John Rutter, whose music is so gorgeous. The Children’s Chorus will perform a wide range of music, including music from the film Home Alone 2. They will also sing a regional premiere of a new song by my brother Robert Intriligator, ‘The Magic of Christmas.’ ”
The En Avant dancers will dance three selections from Nutcracker, including “Mother Ginger”, which is timely because of a recent movie, and the “Waltz of the Snowflakes”. This challenging waltz hasn’t been performed in these concerts in the past, and will also feature the children’s chorus. The En Avant dancers will also perform a tap dance to “Winter Wonderland.”
In addition, two Wyoming soloists will be featured in the program. Jennifer Wacker, from Cheyenne, will perform “Gesu Bambino” and “Silent Night”, and Katrina Zook, from Laramie, will perform “It’s Chanukah” with the Chamber Singers and the orchestra.
The orchestra itself has a number of features, including a medley from the Grinch movie, an exciting overture of Holiday songs arranged by Jim Stephenson, and of course, Anderson’s perennial favorite “Sleigh Ride.”
