Twelve Candidates for the Wyoming House
Featured during the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce Pancakes & Politics event were 12 candidates running for the House of Representatives.
Each was provided a moment to introduce themselves and their primary areas of focus. Sam Shumway from AARP of Wyoming was the moderator and each addressed topics ranging from coal to education even healthcare.
“We started the rainy day fun to level the ups and the downs.” Expressed Representative Sue Wilson when talking about spending the rainy day fund to offset coal deficits.
Funding issues for education were discussed but the need to diversify the economy is critical to solving this because that will help change our tax base.
“The answer is diversification.” Shared Representative Jared Olsen “In fact, I was a big supporter of blockchain which was mentioned, was even the sponsor of many of the bills.”
Infrastructure goes beyond economic development it is also a matter of life and health according to the candidate for House District 12, Juliet Daniels. As it relates to transportation, Commercial Air Service is a major priority for the greater Cheyenne area. Jenefer Pasqua, Candidate for House District 10, expressed that she is excited for the commercial air service to start in Cheyenne and is supportive in funding transportation solutions.
Mitch Guthrie, Candidate for House District 8, addressed the importance of bringing young professionals and families to Wyoming. To do so he shared is support of the legalization of Marijuana.
When talking about the Wyoming Business Council Representative Bill Henderson shared the importance of hiring qualified personnel who can advance the economies of Wyoming.

What would you do to make Cheyenne more attracted to workers? Ryan Lindsey, Candidate for House District 12, shared a solid education system is a major priority. This is a way to bring families to Cheyenne and to also strength available workforce in the area.
According to Dr. Paul Johnson, Candidate for House District 44, cost of healthcare is expensive in the state because the volumes of people using the services are limited it makes healthcare more expensive. As a rural state, this is a challenge.
When talking about access to broadband, Representative Olsen said he is working on bringing 5G to Cheyenne expressing telecommunications as the future. Wyoming’s actions in the last session have created a stimulus of interest from business and this has resulted in deployed technology-based events and activities. Therefore, connectivity is critical.
“We now have an international audience of tech investors looking at Wyoming.” Shared Sara Burlingame, Candidate for House District 44, when talking about those recent successes.
