Volunteers Needed
The Cheyenne Marathon is looking for volunteers for traffic management.
Volunteers are needed to man intersections, ensure runners stay on course, cheer runners on as they go by, and move cones off the street after they’ve received confirmation that the last runner has passed their intersection. Undoubtedly, this event will be the largest logistical undertaking in Cheyenne’s history. This position is the most important aspect of keeping the event safe for both the athletes and area residents.
THE COMMITTEE WILL BE HOLDING AN INFORMATIONAL MEETING TONIGHT, SEPTEMBER, 18TH AT 6:00 P.M. IN BUILDING M AT THE LARAMIE COUNTY FAIRGROUNDS AT ARCHER. YOU WILL RECEIVE YOUR VOLUNTEER T-SHIRT AND BE ABLE TO ASK QUESTIONS REGARDING YOUR LOCATION AT THIS EVENT!
We will have 2 shifts. Volunteers need to be at their assigned locations by 5:30 am. Any traffic control devices (barricades, cones, road closure signs) will be on location. Volunteers will place the devices per their assigned map by 6:00 am. As manpower allows, volunteers will be relieved at 9 am with a replacement. If we don’t have enough volunteers, volunteers from the first shift will be asked to stay until the last runner passes their location.
Once again we thank you again for your help in this endeavor.
To volunteer, please either come to the meeting on Tuesday or contact Amber Ash at aash@laramiecounty.com.
