0 Sunday, August 11th, a tornado warning was issued over Hillsdale, WY – 17 miles east of Cheyenne, moving northeast at 25 mph. The landspout tornado touched down 3-4 miles off of the Hillsdale exit east of Cheyenne, WY. Landspouts may look like tornadoes, but they can develop when no thunderstorms are in the area. They tend to be very weak and short-lived lasting for only a few minutes; however, they can be strong enough to cause some damage. The tornado appeared to head south before disappearing.
