Wyoming Firefighters Announce Fill-the-Boot Campaign
Cheyenne Firefighters and the Federated Firefighters of Wyoming will continue their Fill-the Boot campaign, a 65 year tradition.
Each year, firefighters across the United States rally over Labor Day weekend to collect donations for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA.) The partnership of the International Association of Firefighters (IAFF) and MDA continues the 65 year tradition by filling the boot.
Fill-the-Boot weekend supports the children and adults affected by neuro-muscular disease and their families. The donations will help pay for expensive and highly specialized medical equipment, household modifications to accommodate the equipment, medical therapy research, and to the children affected- summer camp. Summer camp is a week-long trip to Empire, CO and is made possible by camp counselors and firefighters from across IAFF’s 9th District.
The community is invited to a media kick-off ceremony, tomorrow, August 27th at 10:00 a.m. at the newly renovated State Capitol. Join the Federated Fire Fighters of Wyoming, Rocky Mountain Regional MDA team, Wyoming MDA Ambassador, and other state leaders and officials to learn why firefighters “fill the boot” each year across the nation. Governor Mark Gordon have a special proclamation to be presented on his behalf.
