Wyoming’s Supercomputing Center Hosts Open House Recognizing Cheyenne
The NWSC/NCAR, Wyoming Supercomputing Center, is hosting a special open house event on Saturday, August 12th at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., 8120 Veta Drive, North Range Business Park.
“This unique opportunity is important to the greater Cheyenne area because the company named in honor of our great community their recent Supercomputer, “Cheyenne.” It is a momentous occasion because this year marks the 150th anniversary for the City of Cheyenne.” shared Stephanie Joy Meisner, Vice President of the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce.
During the event guests can come create their own tornado, discover the power of parallel computing, and explore virtual and augmented reality demonstrations. Find out how supercomputing in Cheyenne helps learning about extreme weather, sun spots and solar storms, wildfires, coral reefs, and the changing world.
The open house event will include hands-on activities for the whole family: robot demonstrations, video games, and a chance to see the center’s newest supercomputer, named Cheyenne, which can perform over five quadrillion calculations per second!
Event is free to attend!
