LCSD1 recognizes Lamp as April standout in staff spotlight

Nicholas Lamp, an associate principal at Central High in Cheyenne, will be honored by the Laramie County School District 1 board at its April meeting — a formal nod to years of steady leadership and student support. The recognition, scheduled for Monday, April 20, underscores the district’s focus on school leadership that strengthens classroom learning and extracurricular programs.

The district confirmed Lamp’s selection for the monthly Board Employee Spotlight; he will be acknowledged at 6 p.m. in the Storey Gym Boardroom, 2811 House Ave.

Lamp joined the district in August 2014 and has served Central High in multiple leadership roles since then. Colleagues and the nomination committee pointed to his long tenure as part of what made him a standout candidate.

Why Lamp was chosen

The nomination submitted to the board highlights several practical reasons Lamp was selected for the spotlight. Reviewers emphasized how his daily work affects students’ academic progress and participation across school life.

  • Student-centered leadership that prioritizes classroom success and inclusive extracurricular access
  • Consistent support for athletics and activities alongside academic programs
  • Collaborative approach with staff and administrators to solve problems
  • Clear, timely communication with families and the school community
  • A reputation for reliability and professional pride in school outcomes

Central High Principal Dr. Karen Delbridge praised Lamp’s ability to build strong connections across the school community, saying he invests considerable time and effort in helping students, staff and families succeed. That interpersonal work, she noted, has tangible benefits for school climate and student engagement.

Beyond personal recognition, the spotlight serves a broader purpose: publicly singling out effective school leaders can reinforce priorities for the district and model practices other administrators might adopt. For parents and local residents, such acknowledgments indicate where district leaders are focusing resources and attention.

Lamp’s recognition will be part of the board meeting agenda on April 20; attendees can expect a brief presentation. The Board Employee Spotlight is one of several ways LCSD1 highlights staff contributions during its regular meetings.
