Obituaries roundup: tributes to Plourde, Dyer and Martinez

Three Wyoming residents whose lives touched families and local communities have recently died, prompting gatherings, memorials and donation requests this month. The following notices summarize services, survivors and ways to honor their memory for residents in Buffalo, Cheyenne and surrounding towns.

Michael Noel Plourde, 69, of Buffalo, died unexpectedly at home on a Tuesday in late May. Family and friends will hold a funeral service on Saturday, May 30 at 2 p.m. at the Harness Funeral Home Chapel in Buffalo, with Pastor Paul Gilbert officiating.

Graveside interment will follow at Willow Grove Cemetery. The family has suggested donations to the Ava Community Art Center (509 W. 2nd Street, Gillette, WY 82716) in lieu of flowers. Online condolences may be left at harnessfuneralhome.com.

Sandra Sue Dyer, born April 6, 1947 in Riverton, passed away peacefully on May 25 at age 79. Married to Thomas Dyer on December 31, 1966, she spent nearly six decades alongside him, moving and building a life across several states.

Sandra worked in real estate and served as a Water Maintenance Coordinator for the Bureau of Reclamation. She was active in her children’s agricultural activities, supporting 4‑H and FFA events and attending church services at Cheyenne Seventh‑day Adventist Church in later years.

She is survived by her husband, Thomas Dyer; son Seth (Cheri) and daughter Sarah Wallace (James); her brother Ronald Albright (Peggy); grandchildren Keeler (Madeleine), Chloe, Samantha (Gabe), Juniper, Clarabelle and Heidi; and great‑grandchildren Everly, Oliver, Ryker, Russell, Waylon, Dean and Rowan. Sandra was preceded in death by her parents Clifford and Bonnie Albright and her sister Connie Ward.

Sandra’s family remembers her as an avid gardener, a generous host who filled her home with baking aromas, and a devoted caregiver to her two corgis, Pork Chop and Pearl.

Diana Martinez (known to many as Di or “Princess Diana”), born July 14, 1956 in Cheyenne, died peacefully on May 13, 2026. She was 69.

Di was celebrated by family for her warmth, sharp style and a knack for bringing relatives together. She loved upbeat music—Motown and classic oldies among her favorites—cooking, and crafting holiday decorations. She also enjoyed supporting nieces and nephews and kept close ties across a large extended family.

Diana is survived by her pets Zapato and Yoda; siblings Theresa (Carlos), Carmel (Jerry), Esther (Stan), Catalina (Ron), Johnny and David; and her caregiver and friend Mia. Her family includes 29 nieces and nephews across several generations. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lazaro T. Martinez and Anita H. Martinez.

A celebration of Diana’s life will be held at Wiederspahn‑Radomsky Chapel of the Chimes in Cheyenne on July 10, 2026 at 11 a.m. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Donor Alliance (http://www.donoralliance.org/contribute/) or the Cheyenne Animal Shelter.
