USS Wyoming and USS Cheyenne Visit During CFD

Local and visiting Navy Sailors to Participate in Cheyenne Frontier Days

CHEYENNE – Sailors from Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) Cheyenne, the Ohio-class ballistic missile submarine USS Wyoming (SSBN 742) and Los Angeles-class fast attack submarine USS Cheyenne (SSN 773) are teaming up to participate in the 122nd annual Cheyenne Frontier Days (CFD) celebration from July 21-30.  Their participation will be aimed at giving Americans the opportunity to learn about the Navy, its diverse personnel, and their role in preserving national security and prosperity.

NOSC Cheyenne personnel are committed to working with and supporting the Wyoming community.

Sailors will be volunteering in and supporting many CFD events:  parades, the civil service mass feeding drills (pancake flips serving thousands of attendees), a joint swearing-in ceremony for new Sailors, Marines, Airman, Soldiers, and Guardsman with the U.S. Airforce Thunderbirds, and parachute demonstrations by the U.S. Navy “Leap Frogs”.  Sailors of the USS Wyoming were already involved in events that includeded meeting Governor Mead, Grand Marshall, General Hyten, and Madam Mayor Marian Orr.

“This is a great event for us to join in and support our Wyoming community, to inform the public of the importance of the Navy mission and the Sailors that carry out that mission, and for us to enjoy spending time with the community we consider family,” said Lt.
