Lions Park has plenty to Roar About
Cheyenne’s biggest park has everything for the family.
Situated in Cheyenne by the Cheyenne Regional Airport, Lions Park has 1.14 miles of trails for biking, walking and fitness stations around Sloan Lake. Fish inhabit the lake, so fishing could always be done from the dock or a little boat in the water. During the summer time, everyone can paddle into the lake by renting a paddle boat from the activities hut.
Lions Park has several activities for all age groups. It has two playgrounds, the Kiwanis Club hall (available for rent), a baseball field and different picnic areas.
The Botanic Gardens boasts areas inside and out to see flowers and enjoy the tranquility of a peaceful setting. Inside has different areas for different focus, including a periscope to see the city. Admission is free to the public and donations are always welcomed.
The Children’s Village is an outdoor learning experience for all ages and helps with the exploration part of the mind. Admission is free, and the activities are endless.
The Putt Hutt has summer hours to enjoy some miniature goal while soaking up the fresh air and sunshine.
Throughout the summer, there are concerts and movies in the park held at the amphitheater.
If its some cooling down that is needed, take a swim in the Municipal pool with its play area for the kids, outdoor splash area and the big pool for more experienced swimmers.
There is tons of open space with plush grass for activities like Frisbee or playing with the dog.
Super Day will be held in the park on Saturday, June 23rd, 2018 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Super Day will have vendors, music, a children’s carnival, along with the Tour de Prairie and the 5-K/10-K walk/run.
