Compassion Warms Elderly Woman’s Life
Compassion goes a long way and that is what makes Cheyenne exceptional.
Homeceptional Properties is known for their ability to transform the housing market with their real estate investment and flips. They go far beyond this however, with being kind hearted with organizing an annual Christmas family adoption program. From a recent experience they are now asking the community to provide a warm and bright holiday season to a Cheyenne elderly woman who is in dire need of a furnace.
“Hello you many wonderful volunteers. We contacted several facilities serving the senior population hoping to identify and adopt 200. Despite our best efforts, we fell short and only found 150 nominees. That is awesome, but now we have several volunteers and no one for them to adopt.
Habitat for Humanity was contacted by a 95 year old woman living in her own house caring for her 70 year old disabled son. The original communication was asking for firewood because her furnace had stopped working. We delivered a load of firewood (as did others), but that is only a short-term solution.
Lilia is originally from Spain, but lived here most of her life. She says her dad taught her to never ask for help and up until now she hasn’t. When we delivered the firewood yesterday she stood at the door and blew kisses and said ‘at 95 I didn’t think anyone could warm my heart. Thank you.’
Lilia’s furnace is about the size of Chugwater (we call them octopus furnaces). We will donate the labor to remove along with Laramie County Abstract’s help; the Garbage Guys will donate the costs related to the disposal; we are on a hunt for a furnace on sale and The Furnace Shop will donate some labor (replacing the old with a new is very labor intensive); and we have an electrician donating labor to install a turn off switch and address any panel issues for the furnace to function.
So I have a proposal for your consideration. Might you be willing to take money you had designated for a senior gift and rather than buying a gift contribute it toward the cost of a furnace? Whatever deficit is left will be made up by donations from Habitat, Lynn Buys Houses, the Garbage Guys and LCA.” As displayed on Corey’s Facebook.
Simply sharing this story and giving others the opportunity to understand the compassion which exists in the community, is a gift. To take action, consider sending a donation to help fulfill this important request. Most importantly pay it forward this holiday season and give the gift of warming hearts like Homeceptional Properties.
