Laramie County School District 1 Student of the Week
Madeline Offutt, who is a senior at East High, was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Oct. 14.
In 2017, Offutt and her family moved to Cheyenne from Charles Town, West Virginia. She has three older brothers and members of the nominating committee said she made a great transition to her new school.
Offutt lettered in East High’s marching band and is a member of their percussion unit. Additionally, she received a superior award from the State Marching Band.
She is employed by Walmart and is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where she sings in the choir. In her spare time, she enjoys working out at the gym and going on adventures with her friends.
She currently carries a 3.8 GPA and members of the nominating committee said she is an asset to her school, community and the country because of her consistency and work ethic.
“Maddy has integrated herself in the East High School community and the Cheyenne community in a positive way,” Sly Johnson, East High counselor, said. “She found ways to make new friends, find a job and be proactive in school while moving toward graduation.”
Offutt has enlisted with the United States Air Force and will leave for basic training next July. She will serve in the Security Forces.
