All Star Cheer-leading Squad
Young girls have opportunity to prepare for higher level cheer opportunities through local program.
The All Star Cheer-leading Squad is a great opportunity for the local Cheyenne youth to be introduced to competitive cheer before high school and College level. A lot of girls are unprepared for higher level cheer that adjacent states including Colorado and Nebraska have had access to.
There are currently 12 girls ages 6-13. Isabell Loeffler, age 11, has been involved in the program for three years and continues her involvement because she loves it. She has met a lot of her friends through cheer and is now one of the leaders.
She wants to encourage other youth in the area to join cheer, “It’s an easy way to be more sporty and make friends.”
Booster club president, Megan Mordahl, had wanted to see cheer in the community for years. Her daughter Luna, age 8, is in the squad.
As a parent Megan said this, “I love the unity of the way the girls work together. The big girls help the little girls every step of the way. This squad not only teaches this unity, but has all aspects of cheer-leading and will help them in their future. It give them the experience to perform in front of a crowd, which will pave a path for any sport they choose.”
Sara Oliez is the coordinator and has been involved in cheer and dance for over 20 years. She has a working relationship with all of the local high schools. She helped start this program two years ago with 2016-2017 being the first competitive season. This has been the first local cheer squad to become certified through USASF to compete. This year they are scheduled to have five competitions and several other performances locally.
Volunteering in the community is important and will help the squad gain additional skills that will help them grow as an adult. The squad is looking for sponsors for uniforms, shoes, and help in offsetting the overall costs for competition. For fundraising opportunities please contact Megan via email or at 307-220-4454.
The club is open to boys and girls ages 6-12. For more information contact Sara or Megan.
