Blizzard Conditions Cause 2nd Day Closures
Due to ongoing blizzard conditions in southeast Wyoming and throughout the region, the City of Cheyenne and School Districts have announced a second consecutive day for a complete closure of non-emergency offices for Thursday, March 14.
This includes staff at the Board of Public Utilities (BOPU), however, please call 307-637-6471 for water or sewer emergencies. Due to the closure, transit buses will also not be available. Thursday’s regularly scheduled trash pick-up will be rescheduled and announced in the near future.
Any travel is discouraged at this time.
Cheyenne Police Department blizzard update shared, “Cheyenne roads remain hazardous and people should not be driving in these conditions. The Cheyenne PD has responded to more than 20 stranded vehicles and 7 crashes today. The Cheyenne PD had 2 patrol cars get hit when officers were responding to vehicles that people had abandoned in the road.”
Fortunately there are no injuries from those accidents, but it highlights why people shouldn’t be on the roads. It is careless to be driving in these conditions and officers may write tickets to those they encounter on roadways. The Cheyenne PD urges citizens to stay safe, stay warm, stay home.
