Kathryn Dobson LCSD #1 Student of the Week
Kathryn Dobson was selected as Laramie County School District 1’s Student of the Week for the week of Nov. 26.
“Academically, Kathryn is ranked first in her class of 312 students,” members of the selection committee said. “Kathryn is a very kind, empathetic, funny young adult who is well respected by staff and peers.”
Dobson, who is a senior, has received six letters throughout her high school career at Cheyenne East High School, while maintaining a 4.0 GPA. She is the section leader of the flutes in the band which entails mentoring younger students, engaging her section in group activities and guiding practices. Dobson participated in 23 community service projects last year and she is helping to raise money for a school in Africa called Hope Lives.
Dobson is vice president of Theatre Troop 2162. She just finished assistant directing Sorry, Wrong Number and will compete at the state competition. She performs in Mariachi 307 around Cheyenne and Casper.
Dobson is a member of National Honor Society where she assists with school events and community service projects.
After high school, Dobson plans to pursue a degree in secondary education. She hopes to teach high school English.
According to the selection committee, “She is well liked in all social circles and is a very strong leader in our school community.”
