New Hotel, Convention Space, Event Center, Entertainment Complex and Restaurant will be located within Cheyenne’s highly anticipated Sweetgrass Development.
A 70,000-plus square-foot, $55 million hotel and convention center, Wyoming’s largest, will be built south of Cheyenne and open in 2021, a Wyoming development company announced Friday.
307 Land Development LLC announced it will build, own and operate the complex, which will also include an events center, entertainment complex and restaurant at the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce’s February luncheon presented by Rob Whittecar – State Farm. Work on the 150-bed 307 Hotel, Convention and Event Center complex will begin this fall and the facility is expected to be completed in the summer of 2021, said Tate Bauman, 307 Land Development’s CEO.
“We look forward to working with the City of Cheyenne and Laramie County to develop the state’s largest hotel and convention center,” said Bauman. “The convention and event hotel will fulfill the growing demand to accommodate guests and provide much needed space to host trade shows and events. Wonderful things are happening, and 307 Hospitality is excited to play a role in economic development and bringing jobs to our community.”
Early estimates show the project will add approximately $60 million annually to the local economy as well as 170 new jobs. The project is located adjacent to Laramie County Community College. Bauman plans to work with college leadership to offer hospitality career training and employment for students. Bauman said 307 Land Development will serve as the project’s development manager, while AU Workshop will provide architect and design services and a qualified contractor will construct the complex, which is being funded by a private equity firm.
The 307 Convention & Event Hotel will be located within the 2,400-acre Sweetgrass Development off East College Drive in Cheyenne. Plans are also in development to construct residential and student housing along with public schools, a golf course and community park. Additional information regarding the project, including the brand of the hotel and construction milestones, will be released in the future.
