October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative (WBCI) has put together events around the state to raise awareness and raise funds for Wyoming breast cancer programs.
Volunteers with WBCI have organized a statewide Plates for Pink Restaurant Week event. Each night of the week will feature a different local restaurant:
- Friday the 12th– Tuskers
- Saturday the 13th Freedom’s Edge & The Daily Press
- Monday the 15th Tasty Bones BBQ & Bakery
- Tuesday the 16th 2 Doors Down
- Wednesday the 17th Wing Shack
- Thursday the 18th Texas Roadhouse
- Friday the 19th Drink for Pink Fundraiser at the CFD Buckle Club
The Rib & Chop House will be hosting the fundraiser all month- “Buy a Rack, Save a Rack.” Restaurants will donate a portion of their proceeds from their evening event to WBCI. Funds are granted to breast cancer programs across the state.
University of Wyoming Cowboy fans have the opportunity to participate in Breast Cancer Awareness Month as well. On Saturday, October 20, they will host their annual “Pink” game. The Cheyenne Regional Medical Center has generously shared their game sponsorship to help promote the WBCI. Together, CRMC and WBCI will offer discount tickets, free t-shirts and accept donations to forward breast cancer programs in Wyoming. Breast Cancer Survivors can get a football ticket for free! Attendees are asked to wear pink to show their support. We also have an amazing raffle package. One lucky winner will win a Josh Allen autographed Buffalo Bills jersey, a Wyoming flag tailgate cornhole game set, and a pink 30 oz. Yeti tumbler. Tickets can be purchased from the WBCI Website or contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Now in the third year, the volunteer-led Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative raises funds to increase breast health education, financially assist with breast cancer screenings, fund cancer patient navigation programs, and offer support to breast cancer survivors and families. Funds raised by the Wyoming Breast Cancer Initiative are granted into various Wyoming breast cancer programs and are also used to fund a statewide voucher program through the Wyoming Cancer Resource Services. To date, the WBCI has raised over $300,000 and granted into 21 programs in 12 Wyoming counties with vouchers available statewide.
